There are many pitfalls to navigate when a company or individual business professional attempts to do video content marketing on their own…

While it is commendable to make efforts to get useful educational content to your customers in their preferred medium of VIDEO, the picture and audio quality often leaves much to be desired. Without the proper skills and tools, the format and execution will not be optimized.

Additionally, trying to learn it as you go means the effects of your efforts are at the mercy of a steep learning curve. Regular “video production companies” that are used to filming commercial advertisements don’t understand video content marketing and the involved production planning. Your best choice is to use a real Video Marketing Company that leverages decades of experience with producing quality video while combining it with content marketing know-how.

Unfair as it may seem, your message and competence is judged by the viewer based on the quality of your video production. Rather than risk your message being lost, it is better to let the specialists take care of this aspect so you can avoid the pitfalls of trying to do video content marketing on your own.

As we have strategized and planned for both Television and Online Video projects with a large number of varying clients for many years, we also know what goes into preparing for a shoot. While the video aspect may be new to you, it is not the focus of this preparation. This is Video Content Marketing – While we take care of the video aspect, we also work with you to make sure you are prepared to deliver the information your customers are looking for. This means thinking about your customers’ needs and wants and what you have to provide them.

Legal marketer Larry Bodine recently published an article with 5 marketing tips to stand out from the crowd. The article is targeted to attorneys, and is focused on the interests of people who are seeking a lawyer, but the main points of the article apply to nearly any company with a web presence and a need to attract customers. Some of the main points from the article will be highlighted and explored below.

If someone needs your service or product to solve an issue they are addressing, he is most likely to search the internet for solutions and answers to their questions. Most people almost always have their mobile devices (smart phones) with them, and your website and web presence need to be in place and ready to perform for you. That means your site needs to be mobile-friendly, displaying and functioning well on both desktop computers and on mobile devices.

Your website needs to engage visitors with free and helpful information, and most visitors expect to find this information. Some of this information may be provided in exchange for contact information provided by the visitor in a form. Other information can come in the form of blogging and video, which will also serve to help optimize your website for your local market when done correctly. You need to have a steady stream of written and video content. Your videos can be done in coordination with blog articles, as in NRV’s Video Content Library programs.

Mr. Bodine points out that your blogs can include written articles, videos, podcasts, and infographics. You may even take the step of launching a stand-alone public interest site for presenting information relevant to your line of work, and it can be sponsored and managed by your company. One key to this approach is providing information that your customers want, and another key is that representatives from your company respond when visitors contact or interact with the site. Automated follow-up can also be integrated into your website, collecting a list of information on potential customers while allowing for an immediate customer service response that can make a difference when your target customers are shopping around.

Your marketing budget should be focused on content, which builds authority and visibility for both target customers and search engines. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and continued SEO services are more likely to drain your money with nothing to show for it. After the initial SEO is done – usually at or near the launch of your website – the best way to improve on that SEO is by offering consistent relevant content, building up an authoritative information library.

about us slider 2

If you have made the excellent decision of Signing Up for an NRV VIDEO CONTENT SHOOT, you can expect to be provided with the information you need to prepare for the shoot. We will meet – either by phone or in person (since we may both be located in or near the Orlando, Florida area), and we will discuss elements of our program and develop a content plan for the topics to be included in the shoot. Below, we will explain the basics of New Relevant Video shoot preparation so you know what to expect!

We will generally take at least a few weeks with you to discuss, develop, and guide your content preparation within the ideal format prior to the shoot itself. This also gives you, the speaker that will be on camera, plenty of time to practice your delivery within that format.

Of course, this content will all be information that you already know very well. You are an expert in this subject matter. It is a process of presenting this information in the ideal format. Practicing will help you to present it better when it is time to shoot your videos.

“How do you shoot so many videos in a single day? That doesn’t sound possible!”

Depending on your package, you may shoot between 12 and 48 videos. Sometimes, people express disbelief that so many videos could be done in a single day, but you must remember that this is essentially a matter of answering questions and explaining concepts on camera as if you are speaking face-to-face with a customer… which is essentially what you will be doing. You answer questions and explain issues in your business every day, and we are capturing that information and packaging it in a format that can be used to the benefit of both your company and your customers, effectively strengthening your connection with your customers.

We will shoot these videos one after another. Each topic/video is likely to take less than 10 minutes, and that is assuming a second take or pick-up take may be required. At that rate, we can get between 6 and 10 videos done in an hour. Now, you can start to see how 48 videos can be completed in a single day… If a full-day shoot is scheduled, we will also break for lunch. Most customers ease into the process after two or three videos if they are nervous going into it. Any mistakes will be edited out to create a smooth delivery in the published videos.

A single speaker who has prepared according to our organized preparation process should have no difficulty during the shoot. Some customers have multiple speakers that divide the topics among themselves. In that case, all speakers need to prepare according to the same guidelines we will present to you in the weeks leading up to the shoot, and each individual will have fewer topics to prepare.

“What happens when we finish shooting the videos?”

At the end of your shoot, we will back up everything we shot, and then we will proceed to edit the raw footage. We will also organize each of the completed video topics into a video publishing plan and proceed to develop the additional description, transcript, and blog documents that will accompany each finished video. When you receive each monthly release, you (or your Web Master or Social Media Manager) will place your videos and blog content on your website blog and share your videos/blogs on social media. As you near your last completed monthly video release, we will be happy to schedule a follow-up shoot so you can repeat the process and continue to release great helpful and educational video content for your ideal customers.

Let us know if you have any questions about what will be required in the preparation of your videos, and we will be happy to explain. We are experts at making you look good, and we provide you with the coaching, guidelines and preparation materials to ensure you are ready to deliver your information on camera.

People Don’t Want to Watch Your TV Advertisements Online

NotAsSeenOnTV-205x205smaller

A recent blog post by Gerry Oginski, Founder of The Lawyers’ Video Studio, explains why simply posting your TV advertisements online is the wrong way to do video marketing. In short, it is the wrong kind of content. People don’t want to watch your TV advertisements online.

If your TV advertisement was strategically placed as an interrupting message during a show watched by your target market, it may resonate with a percentage of them, and that approach makes sense. Many, if not most of them would still prefer to keep watching the show they tuned in for, but some of them will likely find your message to be relevant. In online video marketing, the viewer/searcher is seeking the information you should be providing. You don’t want to be the noise they are trying to bypass. You want to be what they are seeking.

The production company that did your TV ads may have told you the same advertisements could be used online to reach more people. They are not video marketing companies; they are video production companies. There is a big difference in understanding. In video marketing, you need to be giving the ideal customers what they want, what they need, and what they are searching for.

YouTube is actually the second-largest search engine, after its owner, Google. Your ideal customers are searching YouTube for answers in video form. In addition, YouTube videos show up in over half of Google searches. These are videos Google thinks are relevant to what the searcher is seeking.

Those are helpful videos that explain and educate. Those are the videos you need to have for your company. Contact us to get started!
